This guide explains the different methods to summon King Slime in Terraria, including crafting and using a Slime Crown, triggering the Slime Rain event, and the rare natural spawn method in Expert or Master Mode. Each method is described with the required materials and steps to summon the boss.
King Slime is a pre-Hardmode boss in Terraria and is a giant blue slime. Known as one of the game's easier bosses, it often serves as an introductory challenge for players. King Slime can summon smaller slimes during combat and teleport to the player if they move too far away.
Notable Drops:
To summon King Slime in Terraria, the most reliable method is by using a Slime Crown.
Required Materials:
After crafting the Slime Crown at an Anvil, take it to a Demon or Crimson Altar to complete the process. These altars are naturally occurring crafting stations found in the Corruption or Crimson biomes. Demon Altars appear in worlds with Corruption, while Crimson Altars are present in Crimson worlds. They are indestructible until Hardmode and are often found underground or inside chasms. Once the Slime Crown is finalized at the altar, you can use it during daylight in any biome to summon King Slime.
Alternatively, King Slime can appear during the Slime Rain event, a random daytime occurrence. During this event, slimes spawn at an increased rate. Defeating 75 slimes in Expert Mode or 150 in Normal Mode during the event triggers King Slime's appearance. Slime Rain ends either with King Slime's defeat or when the day transitions to night.
King Slime can naturally spawn in Expert or Master Mode when the player is in one of the outer lateral sixths of the map (far left or far right), at a depth above zero, and during the daytime. The spawn point must also have standard green grass. This event has a low 1% chance of occurring and is less reliable than using the Slime Crown or triggering the Slime Rain event.
