Welcome to our Monkey Meadow guide on Hard Standard difficulty. This guide is designed to be easy to follow, with helpful tips and explanations of our decisions based on extensive BTD6 experience from our YouTube channel.
While you can use these features (especially Monkey Knowledge), this guide is designed to be as bulletproof as possible, so they are not required.
Note: This guide was recorded on BTD6 Patch 43.
Since this is the first map and you likely don't have many heroes unlocked, Quincy is a solid choice. He is the cheapest hero you can buy and is highly effective for most maps due to his low cost, early camo detection (before Round 24), and high MOAB damage.
Instructions: The round guide indicates when to make purchases. For example, "Round 3" means to buy at the end of Round 3, between Rounds 3 and 4, unless stated otherwise. We recommend disabling Auto Start for easier following.
As mentioned, we are starting with Quincy, a reliable hero available at a very cheap price.
Once you have enough cash for a Ninja Monkey, buy it and place it in the corner of the track as illustrated to cover as much area as possible.
You can upgrade the Ninja Monkey to 1-0-0 and then to 2-0-0 as soon as possible if you want to. Quincy and the Ninja Monkey will be able to handle bloons by themselves for a while.
Continue upgrading the Ninja Monkey. It will be useful later in Round 33 when camo bloons appear.
Place him in the corner of the track to the left of Quincy. Set his targeting to strong.
This will enable the Ninja Monkey and Quincy to destroy Lead Bloons in Round 28, when they appear for the first time.
Continue upgrading the Alchemist to prepare for Round 40, where he will significantly buff our other towers to deal with the MOAB.
Even though we are already prepared for Round 33 when camo bloons appear for the first time, it doesn't hurt to be safe. The Shimmer upgrade will give us camo vision for the whole game.
Note: The Shimmer upgrade can be unreliable on certain harder maps since it reveals camo bloons in pulses, but that doesn't apply in this case.
It's best to upgrade the Wizard Monkey to the Necromancer upgrade a few rounds before Round 40, as this ability needs to collect popped bloons from previous rounds to be effective.
These two towers should easily be able to handle the MOAB, especially with the help of the Alchemist.
If you want to, you can activate Quincy's ability when the MOAB approaches him, but it is not really necessary.
The Super Monkey is a high-damage tower that will come in handy for dealing with MOABs and BFBs.
The Robo Monkey upgrade provides excellent damage for its cost.
After this upgrade, you are pretty much set for the game. You will earn about an extra 30,000 cash until the end of the game.
You can buy anything you want from Rounds 69 to 79 and should be fine, as long as you spend the money on high-tier upgrades. However, here is our pick for a nice finish.
Here is the full build used in this guide if you want to try to achieve it yourself.
